Peanut Wood Shiva from Australia
Peanut Wood is a fascinating form of fossilised wood, formed millions of years ago during the Cretaceous period.
The original wood was washed into an ancient sea as driftwood, where marine wood boring creatures called shipworms created tunnels throughout it. During fossilisation, these tunnels became filled with pale sediment, creating the distinctive “peanut” markings that give this material its name.
