Banded Tiger Iron is made up of layered Hematite, Red Jasper and Golden Tigers Eye forming a unique striped appearance that dates back 1.8 to 2.5 billion years.
This unique stone was formed by Iron bearing Quartz (Tiger Eye & Jasper) replacing the mineral Crocidolite. The name derives from the inclusion of Iron and Tiger Eye, with Tiger Eye and Red Jasper being members of the Quartz family.
